A thin layer of CdS of about 200A improving the conversion efficiency of CdS CdTe solar cells / solar 8% to 15%. A similar improvement in efficiency has been observed in other solar cells based on CuInSe2 or similar compounds. The reason for this improvement in efficiency that is typical for CD, but not observed with similar semiconductor, is briefly described. The technical and economic importance of these cells convert the solar energy market is summarized.
