Background and Objectives: The abnormalities associated with cancer cachexia include anorexia, weight loss, muscle wasting and atrophy, anemia and disorders of carbohydrate and lipid metabolism proteins. The objective of this research was to examine the effects of certain nutraceutical anti-wear, such as genistein, resveratrol, epigallocatechin gallate and diallyl sulfide (DAS). Methods: In vitro effects of these nutraceuticals on proteolysis were examined in muscle cells in culture subjected to hyperthermia. The effects of DAS in vivo have also been tested on rats with tumors cachectic-(AH-130 Yoshida ascites hepatoma).
