Help with Chem?
Write the formulas for the compounds formed by the following combination of elements and name each of the compounds formed.
a. lithium and fluorine
b. calcium and bromine
c. sodium and nitrogen
d. aluminum and nitrogen
I also have to write the formulas for the following compounds:
a. sodium iodide
b. beryllium fluoride
c. magnesium oxide
d. aluminum sulfide
Please and thanks you.
always put the cation first. The anion ending gets changed to “ide”, if it is a binary compound. All of oyurs are binary.
You need to know the valence charges and cross multiply.
your first question (a) becomes LiF = Lithium Fluoride
your second question (a) becomes NaI
Now try the rest
Note : Always put the cation first. The anion ending gets changed to “ide”, if it is a binary compound. . . . .
a) LiF- lithium fluoride
b) CaBr2- calcium bromide
c) Na3N- sodium nitride
d) AlN- aluminum nitride
Always check ur periodic table for “elements charges”. .
a) NaI
B) BeF
C)MgO
D) Al2S3
hope dis help
